Marketing

Here I will creating ideas for a way to promote my documentary.

Idea 1: Opening Teaser

My initial Idea that I have thought doing, is creating a sort of opening teaser for my documentary video. I have currently structured the idea of making a 48-50 second opening using Gyro Zeppeli's theme as the opening music for my documentary on JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run.

There are six distinct beats at the beginning of the track that I was planning to use to have each beat briefly introduce the protagonists of previous parts of JoJo, with them being slightly animated using Adobe Animate & After Effects whilst also giving each character having their own sound effect and giving them each their own visual effect (I.e. Glowing Effect).

After the introduction of each previous protagonist, I will briefly have all six on one shot and have disappear, replacing them with a lone silhouette of the new protagonist in a extreme close up shot and cut to a new scene with the guitar riff having a new silhouette of the new protagonist in a full shot pose with them kneeling on the floor with one arm stretching upwards.

Once the guitar riff starts to go at a faster pace with the beat of drums, I plan to have other key characters of Steel Ball Run to appear within the shot, after each beat and giving them each a unique glowing effect whilst all being silhouettes, with an outline of the golden ratio slowly fading in as part of the background.

Once it gets to the last drop of the beat, I plan to use a panel of the manga with Gyro Yelling "Go Johnny, Go" to go with the music when it picks up again with the beat with Gyro audibly saying "Johnny Go!" within the track.

After this I was planning to have a sort of montage of pieces from the manga as well as some fan animations of the manga in a sort of comic book style which will go on till the 48th second mark with the opening finishing on Gyro's laugh which is present within the track.

I will have this serve as both a teaser and as the actual opening for my documentary video.

Update: I ended up scrapping the idea in the end and went for an alternative idea for marketing.

Idea 2: Ending theme

My second Idea was to create an ending sequence for my documentary.

To make it similar to an actual JoJo ending, I went a Searched for a song that was fitting for the main character of Steel Ball Run, Johnny Joestar.

Originally I was planning on using Duffy's Distant Dreamer as the ending theme, until I stumbled upon I'll be lucky Someday by Glen Campbell, with the song fitting the character of Johnny Joestar to a tee.

With this I began coming up with a mental plan of how I wanted to structure this.

For this ending I wanted to show Johnny's Journey of overcoming his terrible luck and troubles, with it starting off when he first got shot, leading to him being paraplegic, to his past regrets and demons, and finally his friends death near the end of his journey, with the last shot being Johnny on a boat carrying his friends coffin, as he faces towards the sky with his eyes closed.

I had made an entire folder of potential Images from the Manga as well as fan animations that Intended to apply yo this anyway I could.

I plan to make both a creditless and credited version of this as a form of marketing, similar to how actual anime endings are published on Social Media.

Due to the song just being around two minutes at most, I could possibly get away with using this song without it being too long or too short (though it would practically be akin to making a basic animated music video).

Update: I have chosen to this over the Opening for my documentary as it was something I saw as more plausible with my current skills and time.
